It was Malachi who came to me during meditation and asked, "Who is God?"
"Who is God?" I replied perplexed.
"Yes, who is God?"
"God is not a who," I replied. "To make Him a 'who' is to place God outside of me, and we both know that can't be so."
"Okay, then how would you define or describe God?" Malachi persisted.
"As best as I can understand or comprehend, God is energy."
"Isn't everything energy?" Malachi continued.
"His energy is Love and Light," I replied.
Malachi thought for a moment before continuing, "Then what is consciousness?"
"Consciousness is an awareness, an awareness of self and one's surroundings," I hesitated.
"So is consciousness also energy?"
"I guess so," I replied, "if thoughts are energy, then I would conclude consciousness is energy as well."
"So, by what you're telling me, I would have to conclude that God is an energy of consciousness, including the energies of Light and Love. Is that about right?" Malachi concluded trying to conceal his slight smirk.
"There is no science that can identify God. There is no philosophy, which can define God. God cannot be explained, He can only be experienced," came my knowing reply.
"Isn't that a lot simpler than attempting to spend hours trying to get an inkling of who or what He is? God is all around you. You see that brittle branch hanging from that maple tree?"
"Yes."
"That's God in experience!" Malachi declared. "You see those ants busy at work?"
"Yes."
"They're God in experience! Hans, you are God in experience! But there is one problem. Do you know what it is?"
"Not really," I replied.
"You!" Malachi retorted. "You are the problem because you don't realize that God is experiencing through you. You are Spirit personified! You, Hans, and everyone and everything else is an expression of the Great Omnipresence. If God is experiencing through you, does it not stand to reason that you are experiencing exactly what God is experiencing?"
"When you put it that way, I would have to agree," I stammered.
"Then get with it! Embrace God's omnipresence! Once you do, you can never place Him outside you. Once you do, you will understand what a truly eternal being you are. Once you do, you will have come home; home in the Oneness. And once you do, you will have awakened to who you really are! What could ever be greater than that?"
"I Am the I AM!"
"Amen."
